Happy Easter

I am sure Photoshop could cover her torn up nose quite nicely,
but this is who Springer is this year...our pretty little tough girl.
Carver insisted on getting a bow tie for Easter. I had to take a big gulp
(he just looks so old!), but he was as proud as could be and thoroughly
enjoyed his big boy look. Uncle Micah and Pops (fellow bow tie wearers)
would be proud!

Springer and Mae compare their goodies.

Springer, Carver, Jack and Mae...
another wonderful Easter day with our sweet friends.

Easter Weekend

Coloring Easter eggs, surviving a big fall, a soccer game (Carver scored three goals!) and our church's egg hunt in the park....Friday and Saturday at the Hiatt's house.

This is how I found her not long after the eggs were placed on the table...
the one closest to her was being picked a part bit by bit-and then she ate it!
This picture doesn't quite do justice to the fall she took-on asphalt.
This was about an hour after it happened on Friday; I think it's going to look worse
before looking better. As we were dressing her for bed she saw her face
for the first time. "I don't want this nose! I do not wike it! It is WED!"
all said amidst sobs. It was pitiful.
Mae and Springer enjoy a beautiful day for swinging.
Springer insisted on picking up only the PINK eggs; needless to say she
didn't end up with quite as many eggs as the other children!
Mae and Springer took their cross decorating very seriously.
For reasons unbeknownst to me Springer only used lamb stickers.
Did I mention she was a bit particular?!
Carver and friends join in on the Hokey Pokey.

Super Biker

Super Carver!

Springer tried out a new way to ride her trike...
and enjoyed picking wildflowers for her Daddy.
A beautiful Sunday afternoon...Carver took his bike out for a spin.
We continue to be amazed at how well he's adjusted to his hand brakes,
tall seat, and new found speed. Today he learned to ride down
(and up) curbs and ramps. I've attached a short video for the grandparents!

Soccer Saturday

Soccer Shots is back and Carver was rearing to go this morning.
It was a foggy morning, but that certainly didn't dampen their spirits.
When Springer wasn't going on runs she enjoyed playing with Anna Bryan M. They both found each other quite hillarious and would cause each other to have fits of laughter. We cracked up at Springer who would yell at Anna Bryan to "laugh"; it took a while for Springer to figure out that she needed to do something funny BEFORE Anna Bryan would give her obligatory laugh!

We wrapped up the rest of our day dropping C at a birthday party, going out to lunch and errands with Springer and doing some projects around the house. Now, G and I head out to a dinner party with great friends-a very nice Saturday, indeed!

Go Wildcats!

Yesterday as we cheered on the Wildcats, Carver decided that we'd be incomplete without our Davidson
t-shirts. That definitely made the difference; Davidson won 82-52.
Here's to the Southern Conference Championship!

Here's the proof!

BIG BOY BIKE

After a few days of practice, Carver took off on his training wheel-less bike today. We just about rode holes in our side walk before heading over to a church parking lot to really test his skills. He did great and was more proud of himself than I've ever seen him. He grinned from ear to ear all afternoon. Although I think we probably did the same...G and I kept saying, "Can you believe this?!" Several weeks ago G promised him a new big boy bike whenever he learned to ride...and he certainly came through. We left the parking lot and headed straight to the bike shop...now he's a little nervous about the new one, but tomorrow's a new day and we're already planning our return trip to the parking lot!
Not one to be left out... Springer purposefully fell off her tricycle to be like Carver.
She'd topple herself over and then pull herself up saying, "I ok, I don't need a band-aid"
or my favorite "what's the big idea, bike?"

The new bike-complete with hand brakes...
the source of much nervousness this evening!

Wrapping Up February

Hopefully it's needless to say that we are all well by now! Thankfully Springer and I did not get the flu and Carver's was short lived. His daddy didn't fair so well, but all is well now. Somehow or another that one week of relative chaos lead to two weeks of catching up. My poor blog fell to the bottom of my list, but now that it's March I thought it was time to get back on it. So, here are a few shots as the month wrapped up. Here's to a calmer, healthier spring!

"Scawey, monster teeth!"Springer enjoyed a yummy Valentine's Day breakfast in her class at school...
pink, heart-shaped pancakes. All of her favorites rolled into one! Carver loves building with legos and this gift from Aunt Andrea was no exception.
This truck took him many hours of work,
but he was so proud of himself for completing it. We've just finalized our plans for G's sabbatical this summer and are all struggling to remain in the moment when our thoughts are miles and months away! Part of getting ready for our month away has involved purchasing some new beach gear. The kids missed no time in trying on their goggles and kick boards. Four more months to go! Aunt Liz, Caroline, Henry and John Mac came to visit last week and we all enjoyed
the beautiful weather. Sweet Henry loved playing swords with Carver and they
all had fun in the tree house. It had been months and months since we'd gotten time with our dear friends the Hickmans. While G was out of town last week we shared some playtime and dinner with Ryan and Reed. I'm amazed at how old they all look-our oldest are two months a part and our youngest are one month a part-very fun friends!
