Although Springer began walking two months ago it was not until this week that we purchased her first pair of shoes. They are a tiny little pair of white Keds (don't get me started on the adorable hot pink Mary Janes I bought yesterday!). Anyway, before bed we decided to try them on her. Carver, several years ago, prepared us for the fact that this additional accessory to the wardrobe is not always met with glee. Springer is spunky and I had no doubt she would quickly express her opinion! Well, I put them on her, stood her up and then stepped back. At first she couldn't take one step without falling down. Then she tried really big, over-exaggerated steps. Each time she landed on her bum, pulled on her shoes and laughed, laughed, laughed! We're on day two now and she is definitely improving-although they continue to send her into fits of laughter! Hopefully we'll be ready to brave the play ground this weekend!
Please excuse the naked little man behind me.... Carver came running from his bath when he heard the commotion!

A "Great" Week
I'm so thankful that our children have two great-grandparents taking active rolls in their young lives. We really treasure our time with both.
This has been a big month full of "greats". First my grandmother came for a birthday visit and then last week we had the privilege of hosting G's grandfather. He came in from Hawaii and spent 4 fun filled days with us. He's a retired pilot so there was lots of airplane throwing (and rebuilding!) and even a trip to our Air and Space Museum. Carver thoroughly enjoyed hearing the stories of the airplanes that Granddad flew and taking a turn in the cockpit of the helicopters Kane (G's dad) flies. I imagine that Granddad went home to recuperate after a non stop week with us! Thanks for coming Granddad; we can't wait to visit you on your turf in October! You better rest up!

Here We Go!
After months of pondering my foray into blogging, I decided to take the leap! I will guarantee no great words of wisdom or answers to life's perplexing questions, but instead pictures and short stories of two especially adorable children. With family and friends spread from Hawaii to Georgia, I hope that little snippets of our life help connect the space between. Thanks for joining our family-I hope you enjoy!
Being that both of our children have birthdays during the week of August 7, I thought that may be a good place to start. On August 7, Carver turned four; on August 12 Springer turned one. It was a wonderfully fun, sweet week with lots of smiles, laughter and only a few tears shed by me as I coped with the fact that my babies changed so quickly! Here are a couple of shots of their big days and the festivities that accompanied them.... Pops, Nana, Granny, Uncle Micah, Aunt Tricia, and Sara James joined in the celebrations!
