Oak Bluffs is home to The Tabernacle...a mid-1800's Methodist campground. Originally there was a meeting hall and tents surrounding it, but as families returned to the Vineyard year after year they began building gingerbread cottages in circles around The Tabernacle. These cottages, mostly built in the 1850's-1870's are still there, and occupied, today. It's an amazing site.
