A Long Day...But We Made It!

We arrived in Charlottesville, VA on Sunday evening. Visiting with our dear friends the Thompsons was good for everyone in our family. The kids had a wonderful time playing and we were rejuvenated by sweet conversations with Greg and Courtney. Thanks for having us! The superheros-Caroline and Carver.

After leaving Charlottesville we headed north to Connecticut....a long day, but the kids did great.
THIS is how we made our trip-sanely!
Those earphones/DVD player were priceless.

George Washington Bridge
The Bronx, NY
As we drove past Manhattan, Carver kept saying, "I just feel like I'm dreaming!" He loved seeing the Empire State Building, the bridges and the energizing site of the NYC skyline. I think our love of the city just may have worn off on him! Springer on the other hand slept through the whole thing.
After a night in Connecticut, Cape Cod welcomed us; we were glad to be there!

We made it to the ferry several hours ahead of schedule. Thankfully we were given the last spot on a ferry three hours ahead of ours. As you can see we BARELY made it. Here's a shot of the space between our bikes and the ferry doors. Needless to say we were thrilled to get on that boat! It ended up making all the difference in our day. We went to bed with the house fully unpacked and feeling like 'home'.
Carver LOVED the ferry ride.

After dinner at The Black Dog we came home and played a little game of soccer in the back yard. After 900 miles on the road we all had quite a bit of energy to run off! Soccer, baths and comfy beds (in dark rooms) will hopefully lead to good sleep tonight!
